CD/DVD/BD browser and reader.

CD/DVD/BD browser and reader is the heart of CDRoller. It utilizes a proprietary driver under Windows 9x/ME or Windows NT low-level API to access the hardware bypassing the Windows File System.

CDRoller - Direct Access to hardware

Due to fault-tolerant disc reader, CDRoller does not use standard methods to access damaged media. Instead, it accesses CD, DVD and BD disks directly, scanning the surface track by track and searching for lost data and deleted files. For example, even if your DVD-video disc looks like a blank one, CDRoller may still be able to find the missing footages and convert them into standard MPEG files that are ready to play back with Windows Media Player.

Beginning on version 7.70, CDRoller also supports SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD) layer as alternative method for direct access to the hardware. The key feature of SPTD is ability to avoid a conflicts with "malicious" filter drivers that can be installed by 3-rd party software.
